Nov 1 - 7, Capitola Plein Air is back! This November, forty professional artists will arrive in Capitola to paint the town…literally!
Artists set up their easels on the wharf, shore, and streets of beautiful Capitola, to paint live for four days. You'll find hundreds of paintings on display, for sale, and entered into competition on Sunday, November 7. You can take home a piece of Capitola culture, vote for your favorites for the People's Choice Award, have a delicious meal from the food trucks, or get creative and make some art yourself!
The City of Capitola Art & Cultural Commission is delighted to host the sixth annual Capitola Plein Air, juried art competition, exhibition, and sale. It is a FREE event, with hands-on art-making for all visitors, live music, and forty local and regional artists selling their works and competing for the top prize.
Dozens of professional artists will paint en plein air in varied mediums, outdoors, throughout Capitola, at locations including New Brighton Beach, Depot Hill, the Esplanade, and the Jewel Box. The public is invited to view those artists in action, from 10:00AM—2:00PM on Saturday, November 6th.
The Exhibition and Art Sale is on Sunday, November 7th, from 11:00AM—4:00PM, at New Brighton Middle School Performing Arts Center (250 Washburn Ave.), more than 100 framed paintings will be on display for the competition, exhibition and sale. The public is invited to vote for the People’s Choice Award!

Nov 2-5, Artists will be painting throughout Capitola including New Brighton Beach, Depot Hill, the Esplanade, and the Jewel Box.
Nov 6, 10:00AM—2:00PM, All artists are required to paint during this time. The public is invited to view artists in action. A booth will be set up on the Esplanade near Capitola Beach with a map indicating where artists plan to paint that day.
Nov 7 11:00AM—4:00PM, Exhibition & Art Sale at New Brighton Middle School Performing Arts Center (250 Washburn Avenue) More than 100 framed paintings will be on display for the competition, exhibition, and sale. The public is invited to vote for the People’s Choice Award.
