The Capitola Art and Cultural Commission is hosting its second annual Capitola Plein Air event on November 5th and 6th. Forty professional artists will paint out of doors and “on the spot”, capturing what they see and what they feel about the charm and beauty of locations throughout Capitola. Painting starts November 2.
Saturday, November 5th between 10am and 2pm is the best time to see the artists in action. On that day, a map will be posted at Esplanade Park marking the location of many of the artists.
Join us Sunday, November 6th, 11am - 4pm for the art exhibition, competition and sale at New Brighton Middle School Performing Arts Center (250 Washburn Ave). All the participating artists will be there with their work. Admission is free, and includes live music, hands on art activities for all ages, and art sales benefiting art education.
Award winning landscape and plein air painter Kevin Courter will judge the work. Capitola’s Public Art Fund will purchase the top two pieces for its public art collection.
The Commission welcomes volunteers to assist with the event. Volunteer sign up information HERE.
